Verse of the Week #32

And this ends our journey through the first chapter of 1 Peter. Do you have another chapter we should do? Please comment!

1 Peter 1:22-25
"Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth awayBut the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

Amazing Race

Friday night, a co-op I am involved in did an Amazing Race (a scavenger hunt around town), and it was A TON OF FUN. We didn't end up winning, I think we got 3rd place, but we had fun.

This is a picture of all the teams
(in the mall).
My team in an elevator
(at a hotel).
In front of a fish tank
(at a nice restaurant--the looks on peoples faces! Hilarious.)
On a playground
(at Sonic)
 In superhero stuff
(at Walmart)
My team, plus the drivers of my team.

Verse of the Week #31 and the Feel of Autumn

Okay, I am interrupting our reading of 1 Peter to share this verse. Because honestly, I need to hear this Bible verse this week; and you might need it too.
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever."
Psalm 118:1
©Amy Lane 2015

This is a poem I wrote to accompany.

That is the feel of autumn

Have you felt that autumn chill?
Coming in through your window sill?

It feels so beautiful, it feels so nice,
So get out the blankets and light candles of spice.

For that is the feel of autumn, autumn in the air;
As we reach autumn, be thankful, and of all your love, with others do share.
Made by my mom!
Give thanks
                 to the Lord
                          For He is good
                                        His love endures

The Flower Withers

Isaiah 40:7-8
"All people are like grass and their faithfulness like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely people are like grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever."

I really like this verse.
We as people can't do everything. We are weak, and we are also like grass. We are only here for a little while. So even though we are weak, the Lord is strong.
Some of us are what some people call compassionate; we want every soul to reach God, and we are sad at the loss of one soul. We even cry sometimes about this.
I know I do.
But we can't reach everyone. God knows this, but He is proud that we try. So don't feel bad if you do not stop and talk to every needing person. Yet again, this is great compassion.
When you find yourself like this, pray for them. We can't reach everyone, but we can shoot a prayer up to God's ear in their concern. Sometimes when I just feel like I want to bring the whole world to God, I have to remind God (but mostly myself honestly) that I am just one person—one fourteen year old girl. I can't do it all.

So if you are the person like me, who wants to do everything. STOP. Remind yourself that you as a person cannot do it all. You have to leave all your concerns in God's hands because He can do it all. Prayer is a wonderful thing to do.

Verse of the Week #30

I love wildflowers! I took this picture a while back and just love it! Just think. God, OUR Creator, made these flowers! And all flowers! How awesome is that?

"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God."
1 Peter 1:13-21

Verse of the Week #29

SO SORRY! I thought my mom published this already!

"In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.Even angels long to look into these things.
1 Peter 1:6-12
